Schools Out, Huge Success.
So this was my chance to be welcomed into the world of Rosie's School of Rock and the level and style that follow. Manning the sound desk is an opportunity I never turn down, you get to watch a gig without being jostled by the crowd or finding yourself in the worst acoustic spot of the venue.
The Rusty Trumpets opened the afternoon with a daunting proclamation of "This is only their second gig" having played their first gig the previous Saturday at Musitopia in Cessnock. Luckily they carried the momentum plucked from Musitopia and deposited it on the stage at the Great Northern Hotel. They had energy in their performance which easily mirrored the energy heard in their compositional style. A premium blend of funk, rock and a taint of a little something extra made sure that this four piece crafted waves for the next act Catching Alice, to ride.
